[Female Narrator] This is Mics & Sirens, the official podcast for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services in Western Australia. 

[Female Newsreader] First to breaking news and a bushfire is burning out of control in Wooroloo.

[Female Narrator] Behind every emergency lies a story of dedication, resilience, and hope.

[Male Newsreader] Spot fires starting, we're requesting more units. 

[Female Narrator] In this series, we'll meet the people behind the positions and take you on a journey to explore the passion, commitment, and grit that keeps communities safe. 

[Male Interviewee One] I'm meeting people possibly on the worst day of their lives. They've just lost everything that they own. 

[Male Interviewee Two] There are times where you think, "Wow, how am I going to deal with this? How am I going to get through this?" 

[Female Narrator] From the first call for help. 

[Male Call Taker] Fire and Rescue, what's the location of your emergency? 

[Female Narrator] To those who put their lives on the line every day. 

[Male Interviewee Three] The little tiny thing next to it is actually the thing that can blow up and cause everything to go really wrong.

[Male Interviewee Four] Literally, there was metres of mud. 

[Female Narrator] The heroes who volunteer to be their community's lifeline. 

[Female Interviewee One] On the sixth day, we found a footprint. 

[Female Narrator] And who picks up the pieces once the flames are out and the sirens fade? 

[Female Interviewee Two] Communities are incredibly resilient. They often have the answers. And it really is our role to come in and facilitate that good work that can be done.
